Make the most of the rest of the season

With course maintenance week and the final major of the year behind us we should be looking forward to what is left of the summer. We should still have plenty of weeks 'decent' golf weather in front of us, so be sure to make the most of it with perhaps a tune-up lesson or some new gear.

USPGA Championship

Underestimated or under the radar?

Justin Thomas fulfilled many people’s dream on Sunday by claiming his first Major title at the USPGA Championship. The year’s final Major at Quail Hollow didn’t really ignite until the back nine on Sunday, where Thomas took centre stage.

The American looked to be heading towards trouble on the 10th only for his wayward tee shot to ricochet off a tree and back onto the fairway. If that wasn’t a sign that it was going to be Thomas’ day then what followed on the same hole definitely was.

The 24-year-old’s eight-foot birdie putt stopped on the edge of the hole, defiantly staying above ground for over seven seconds, before eventually dropping to the bottom of the cup. He followed this with a chip-in birdie at 13 and a birdie at his penultimate hole – set up by a sublime 214-yard 7-iron to 15 foot – to win the USPGA by two shots.

At 24 years of age, this win sees Thomas join Nicklaus, Woods, McIlroy and Spieth in being one of only five golfers to have won four times (including a Major) in a single season before turning 25. It really is hugely impressive when you think about it, which leads us on to this week's question:
