Coronavirus update

We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will act in accordance with the government advice.

Here in the pro shop though, we have applied some simple rules for you to follow when being at the golf club:

1. If you’re only after a scorecard, please take one from outside the shop.
2. No more than one person in the shop.
3. Please wash your hands/sterilise your hands thoroughly.
4. Contactless payment preferred.
5. Try not to use the shop as a social space in the coming weeks.
6. If you have the symptoms, we kindly ask for you to stay away from the club for the time being.

Although we are being strict on the above rules, we would also like to encourage every golfer to use the golf course while we still can. As long as you follow government advice for social space, the course should be a perfect sanctuary.

Please also leave the flags in, don’t shake hands or pull roll-up groups from a hat to avoid unnecessary contact.

Golf is also an excellent exercise, so this can help you get away from everything that’s happening in the world.

Matsuyama's record round

Hideki Matsuyama shot an incredible 63 at last week’s Players Championship to equal the course record only to see the tournament cancelled due to the Coronavirus the very next day. It looks like the right decision though and now The Masters have followed suit in postponing until a later date.

But the big question is when will it be rescheduled for? In a Ryder Cup year, there is little room left for manoeuvre, so will something be shunted out later in the year to make way? Only time will tell.

Sociable sessions

Playing golf with your friends is one of the best things about this sport but, if you’re tired of playing long strokeplay rounds in your fourball, why not try some of the fun formats below the next time you find yourself going out in a four?

This game is a lot of fun and sees both team members play their own ball, with the lowest score counting at each hole. In a fourball betterball match, players receive 90% of the difference from the player with the lowest handicap.

Greensomes

Both partners tee off on each hole. You then choose the best drive and play alternate shots for the rest of the hole. Your greensomes handicap should be 60% of the lower partner’s handicap added to 40% of the higher partner’s.

Gruesomes

This is a great way to find out who your true friends are as the format is the same as Greensomes only your opposition decide which drive you play from. Although don't blame us if you all end up falling out over it.
